Anna Groves
Anna offers individual sessions, couple's mediation and group workshops that support people to live more fulfilling lives. She is passionate about creativity and expresses this through her own dance practice and choreographic works. Anna has a background in the arts as a dancer and choreographer, education as a creative arts teacher, and is a Certified Nonviolent Communication (CNVC) trainer. She is currently completing a Master of Counselling (Narrative).

Certified Nonviolent Communication (CNVC) trainer and coach
Anna Groves is recognised as one of New Zealand's most experienced facilitators of compassionate communication. She was certified in 2009 as a Nonviolent Communication (NVC) trainer, and provides individual coaching for new trainers both nationally and internationally. Founded by psychologist Marshall Rosenberg, PhD, NVC provides a set of practical and accessible skills, which can be used to communicate more effectively with others in both business and life.

Deep listening underlies all of Anna's communication. Perceptive, pragmatic and candid, Anna can offer timely insights and facilitate a shared understanding when others may be inclined to withdraw. She is well equipped to support connection when conflict is particularly difficult or challenging, and can offer skills to clarify situations, support people to make sustainable changes. Her ability to empathise underlies a potent emotional intelligence that enables Anna to connect with people from all walks of life.

Dancer/choreographer
Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts, Diploma in Contemporary Dance, Graduate Diploma in Secondary Teaching (Dance and Drama)
Anna has danced all of her life and is deeply passionate about movement, performing and choreography as a way of living. She is an improviser and storyteller through dance. Anna originally trained in ballet and moved on to African dance and contact improvisation before completing her Diploma of Contemporary Dance. She then went on to finish a Bachelor's degree at Unitec, where choreography became her focus. After staging shows for the New Zealand Arts Festival and Fringe, Anna has continued to teach dance at secondary schools, Wellington Performing Arts Centre (now Whitireia Polytech) and universities. She also works as a choreographer with musicians, actors and film/production companies - and offers choreography for festivals and events. Anna stages independent installations and works with others to create Flashmobs.
